LOG LINE: Shutter Speed
is a film about the observable we cause all around us that Melanie and Jacob
two journalists for Science Revolution magazine are quantifying while Cathay a
young Asian woman is solicited by a mysterious spy to look into her past life
in Beijing.
SYNOPSIS: Melanie catches
Baxter on camera and interviews the old scientist about a new treatment he’s
developed for all kinds of diseases.
Redmond her editor are hot on the trail of discovery about how the
observer observes his world; his life and how to see that paradox sought after
by many. A robbery takes place at her
neighbors next door the Nelsons which sees psychically while in the bathtub
and she rushes over to see if she’s correct and finds their door broken into. Melanie’s conversation with a police officer becomes
an unhinging experience for the lady because of the nature of how Melanie saw
the crime. Melanie sees how easily
people may be accused admitting their gifts of a crime they report for an
instant and how skewed the world can become.
Jacob Melanie’s co worker is an intensely observant journalist
who quietly does his assignments and catches up with Melanie determined to
blossom his friendship with her into what is hidden in both of them yet
unspoken in their friendship. Melanie
and Jacob compare notes on their understanding and perceptions of life through
their work. Melanie’s next story
involves the look at magnetic tape of the soul and how we play it which is an
intriguing exploration with Redland, Jacob peeking in on her progress with the topic
and his own observations through her investigative journalism and intense
conversations.
Jacob is living his life with two love birds that one day when
Melanie arrives at his door out of the rain are a point of interest of his
personal life which is reclusive as he s particular about who he socializes
with. Melanie and Jacob form a closer
bond and have a serious conversation about attraction and their observations
about each other that culminate in her staying till morning.
Cathay a young Asian woman is spied on by a private hired
detective who is working for Mr. Yen a diamond broker from Beijing that
suspects she is the reincarnated daughter of his past life. Finally the man meets with her and gives her
an invitation from Mr. Yen to fly to Beijing to meet him and stay a month. After careful consideration and preparations
Cathay takes the flight to Beijing and stays at an opulent hotel where she
meets Mr. Yen and he brings her to the house eventually. Cathay meets his charismatic son Ting who is
in business with his father and also is a very adept martial arts instructor. Ting teaches Cathay martial arts and plans
surprises for her that make her visit to their home intriguing and filled with
the unexpected.
Melanie meets demise of others in the street a leukemia victim
enthralled with the drama of darkens the disease is playing as finally
expressed to her like a clandestine secret which creates the confirmation of
magnetic moments of wild abandon of reason to be verified behind disease of the
mind causing disease of the body.
Cathay and Ting visit the diamond mines and philosophize about the
meaning of unearthing something buried vs theft of brilliant objects of
desire.
Melanie finishes a stunning story for the magazine and Jacob
bonds with her in agreement of perusing a relationship. Cathay decides to stay in Beijing when Mr. Yen
offers her a job joining the diamond business. She returns to the USA to sell
her condo pick up her cat and returns swiftly to Ting her lover and her new
life.
