LOG LINE: Silver in the
Sky is a story like an impressionists painting with lovely cinematography and
deeper questions of French aristocratic characters in Paris coming to the
surface about life, the mystery of Nibiru and the fascinating work of a great
jewelry house inspired by the explorations of children in nature.
SYNOPSIS: Madeline’s precocious son Jean is an avid collector of
frogs with his fiends Criste and Robert who also expand the collection to
snakes and butterflies. The children in
the park and trade creatures in their secret club and oddly Nicole’s daughters
Anna and Alise have a swarm of bees that appear from nowhere in one of their
rooms which have to be coaxed out by a jar of honey. Honey is used ironically
to capture flies by Jean’s club to feed their frogs. Nicole is a high fashion
jeweler who is inspired by these events to create a unique collection called
Creatures in the Gardens. Nicole secretly works on this collections and does
not tell anyone about her creations however people around her begin to suspect
that she is creating something wondrous.
Anna and Alise speculate about the lost planet of Nibiru in their
room having constructed a model of the solar system with the ancient planet
distancing itself from the sun. They experience the magical appearance of a
phoenix that flies across their balcony dropping a large golden feather. The
girls continue to research this maddeningly mysterious topic suspecting that
some may have incarnated amongst them from the people of that planet that came
to Earth though their mother’s friend Madeline is quiet about this without
revealing the truth.
Ingrid a German immigrant who has left her former life to paint
is living in Montmartre and is quietly painting discovered by locals and
visitors from Paris who love here art. She meets Jean and Madeline and paints
his portrait which the parents fall in love with and order two more for
themselves. Ingrid’s father Klaus arrive in Montmartre looking for his daughter
who left a previous lover a very wealthy older Parisian. Klaus brings her some
money and decides to visit for a week. Ingrid revisits her dad and they catch up on
life and he plans a surprise for her. Shortly after Ingrid meets Andre a
bohemian French recording artist who stays up with her into the late hours
laughing and discussing their philosophies on life. Ingrid has a cynical bite
Andre begins to challenge some of her blocks to progress in her life that sets
her free to greater happiness while he heals his heart from a deceased loved.
Nicole’s jewellery show held at one of the local prestigious
stores is a stunning success Jean brings his pet beetle to the affair nearly
enchanting some of the guests, drinks his first glass of champagne alone at age eight while his parents are not
looking and falls asleep against the wall in the corner of the store on the
floor. Ingrid and Andre attend the show Ingrid is mesmerised by the collection
as she and Andre both have a love of gardens.
Andre purchases a piece for Ingrid as a surprise taking a chance on the
new relationship which he presents to her later.
Klaus meets Ingrid on his last day in Paris in Montmartre and
presents her with a small home he has purchased for her stay there rescuing her
form a horrible little apartment she was stuck in after leaving her previous
lover swiftly. Ingrid is thrilled and even more thrilled when her father
presents her with a second key to a Paris ultra modern flat that he bought for
himself to visit her more frequently. Klaus leaves for Germany and Ingrid
finally feels closer to being settled with more order in her life in France.
Andre is preparing for a new album recording and composes several
songs inspired by his new relationship. Ingrid distressed one night in her new
house calls him to get rid of a ghost haunting the wine cellar in her new
home. Andre slightly chilled from the
encounter nevertheless perseveres to extradite the ghost to another dimension
of peace away from the house through the tactic of song. He succeeds to
Ingrid’s delight and the house is free of lingering spirits of the dead.
Madeline wakes up one night and has a terrible dream of being in
the cold on Nibiru distancing itself from the sun. Charles consoles her in the
night and she finds warmth with him in their bed in his arms as they snuggle
back to sleep soothing her.
Andre meanwhile get an offer from the USA to become an American
recording artist. Knowing he would lose Ingrid for a lavender apartment and
Buick he decides to stay in France.
Madeline and Charles lose their stern house keeper to a heart
attack and hire a young girl fresh out of culinary school who Jean adores and
knows his odd collection of creatures will now be safe from scrutiny as
‘appropriate.’
Jacques has a final show down in a restaurant with an investor
acquaintance that has lost him money three times. A scene ensues as he tells
him off in public and Nicole and he then commence to celebrate her success and
more involvement of her in his investments replacing his previous investment
comrade.
